MEET OUR STUDENTS:

  • Dishant, a third child to his parents came from a low socio- economic background. His family migrates every year as they work at the construction site as daily wage workers. Dishant joined the local govt school later in the month of September, and he was lacking behind with the syllabus.
    During this period, Peepal Foundation was in the process to initiate the Development Center. Dishant was the first child to get registered to the center. He was given remedial classes for English, Math and Science subject. Gradually other students from Janta School started coming to the class. The first batch of DC was of 14 students. He continued at the centre till his 8th Std. With the help of the mentors he developed interested in studies. He gained 78% in his 10th std and secured highest marks in Math's subject. His success was a great achievement for DC. Dishant is now a graduate in commerce and works at post office and earns good.
  • Panchashila, had stopped coming to school soon after her fathers death. She had to help her mother earn money by doing household chores at peoples house. On finding that she was missing class our Change Manager visited her home multiple times and spoke to her mother about the importance of school. Upon several requests Panchashila was sent to school but as she had missed school many days, she had no friends. Our CM gave her individual care and attention.
    Through our CEDE program, she was kept engaged in various activities, which made her participate in discussions, craft activities, story telling, role plays etc. During a communication session, she was asked to present a speech in few lines on any of the topic related to her or her family. She courageously came up and spoke about her father and how she misses him. Panchashila now studies in Std 6th and is doing good. She and her mother, both are thankful and are working hard towards building a good life for them.
  • Nine year old Saurabh, lives in a slum near PMC school near Kalas. He lost his parents a couple of years ago and his siblings lives in a small town in UP. He lives with his aunt. Since the CEDE Program began, he has become aware about his personal and public hygiene, helping his aunt and uncle at home, behaves responsible in school as well as at home. He is inspired by our change manager and wants to become one when he grows. His aunt has seen a appreciable change for the better in him.
